The new rate more closely matches what members pay with the costs of providing their electric service. Midland Power’s wholesale power suppliers charge the co-op for both the total electricity members use and the highest combined demand they place on the system. The three-part rate better reflects both of those costs.
Because the new rate includes a lower energy charge, members can save money on their electric bills by reducing or shifting their electricity use during peak-demand periods, giving them more control over their monthly bill.
