Midland Power Cooperative is once again investing in area high school students, offering sophomores and juniors the chance to attend a week-long trip to Washington, D.C., and college-bound seniors the chance to earn a $1,000 scholarship.
For more than 60 years, electric cooperatives like Midland Power have proudly promoted the Cooperative Youth Tour program, which sends high school students from across the nation on a week-long trip to Washington, D.C.
Midland Power will sponsor one student to join 40 other students from around Iowa - along with hundreds of students from across the country - as they learn more about electric cooperatives and American history. Students will also learn about the U.S. government and meet with their members of Congress.
The all-expense paid trip will be from June 18 to 24, 2022. High school sophomores and juniors attending school in or near Midland Power’s service territory are eligible to apply. Additional information and an online application can be found on our Youth Tour webpage. All Youth Tour applications must be received by Friday, March 11, 2022.
For graduating seniors, Midland Power Cooperative and wholesale power provider Basin Electric Cooperative are offering 3 – $1,000 college scholarships. Seniors planning to enroll at any accredited 2 or 4-year college or university and living in or near Midland Power’s service area are eligible to apply. Applications are available online on our Scholarships webpage. All scholarship applications are due by January 31, 2022.
